After completing her residency training and fellowships in 2005, Dr. Sumita Gokhale joined the laboratory of Professor Rudolf Jaenisch at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where she served as a Research Scientist / Pathologist. From 2007 to 2014, Sumita was with University Pathologists, a private multi-specialty pathology group in New England. During her tenure at University Pathologists, she supported several hospitals in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut. Sumita holds a position of Assistant Professor at the Boston University School of Medicine. She has co-authored 24 papers published in leading peer-reviewed journals including Nature and Cell. Sumita is also a two-time recipient of the “40 Under 40” award in the state of Rhode Island. Her primary interests include cytopathology, including endoscopic and endobronchial ultrasound-guided FNA, oncologic pathology, breast pathology, uropathology and molecular diagnostics.
