Dr. Mei-Yu Hsu graduated summa cum laude with a medical degree from Kaohsiung Medical University in her native Taiwan in 1992 and received her Ph.D. degree in Cell & Molecular Biology from University of Pennsylvania in 1997. She subsequently completed her pathology training at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and a dermatopathology fellowship at the UT Southwestern Medical Center.
Prior to joining StrataDx, Dr. Hsu held academic appointments as Assistant Professor of Pathology and Dermatology at the University of Iowa Health Center and at Harvard Medical School/Brigham and Women’s Hospital. More recently, she was Associate Professor of Dermatology at the Boston University.
For 14 years, she directed an NIH-funded melanoma research laboratory, focusing on the “stem-like” populations as potential therapeutic targets. In addition to her investigative/teaching career, she has been a practicing dermatopathologist since 2003.
Dr. Hsu has authored more than 60 publications, including numerous book chapters, and has lectured in a wide variety of national and international venues. She is versed in all areas of dermatopathology with a special focus on melanocytic lesions and vasculitis.
